Beauty

They say that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. But this does not answer the question “what is beauty?” It merely implies that beauty is never objective but dependent on the “frame of reference” of each human being. I should say that not only it applies to human beings but also to creatures that can see beauty in nature, like a bee attracted to a lovely flower or even a fly attracted to a dirty and stinky garbage can despite its disgusting appearance. In any case, beauty can be something that makes us feel good and comfortable, thus, not isolating its realm on the sense of sight. For this, beauty can be in the form of a fragrant scent, a delicious taste, or a relaxing feeling.
As I have so added, beauty is something of symmetry, or at least of balance. Traditionally, a beautiful face is equally the same on both sides when divided vertically. A sketch of a beautiful heart figure is symmetrical in nature. But a beautiful top-view of a field of green and brown, like that of trees and mountains, almost covered by fluffy and wavy clouds where sun rays strike through, can be an object of beauty even without symmetry. As long as there is no isolated space lying on one side alone. For example, one can be distracted from such view at the sight of a treeless mountain side. Such scenario can melt a smile.
Beauty is something which is relaxing and tranquil. A crowded metropolis can be a stressful sight and place to be. Something that rejuvinates and relaxes a tired soul is also beautiful for me. Like the example from the previous paragraph, something that distracts you brings stress than peace of mind.
However, not everything applies to other things. For there can be things of beauty that I have not discovered, which can coincide some of my criteria yet deviates others.
